Meister Eckhart (c. 1260 – c. 1327)
Spiritual support and direction is a feature of many faith traditions. Charlotte's approach is grounded in the following principles.
- Style that is flexible. Charlotte does not impose a program on the client. The manner of the support is adjusted to fit the person’s personality, life history, and spiritual experience. Spiritual support is a partnership. It is built upon mutual respect and openness to the other’s frame of reference and faith traditions.
- Integration of dreamwork. Charlotte gives careful and prayerful attention to dreams that may occur in the life of the client. Often a person's dreams offer clues to areas of bountiful growth and can lead to desired change.
- Theology that is optimistic. It affirms the goodness of the world but is also aware of the problem of evil. At the same time it is both contemplative and service-oriented.
- A focus on your deepest yearnings. Spiritual support attempts to uncover the deepest desires of the human heart. Typically, these are smothered by superficial desires for transitory things. Our most profound desires are shaped by the Holy Spirit and point toward new choices for spiritual growth and fruitful service.
